Frequently Asked Questions

What is NoteShared?
NoteShared is a secure platform for sharing sensitive information through self-destructing, one-time-use notes. Once a note is read, it's permanently deleted from your browser's storage.
How secure are the notes?
Notes are encrypted using AES encryption and stored locally in your browser. They can only be accessed once with a unique access key. After viewing or when they expire, notes are automatically deleted.
How long do notes last?
You can choose the expiration time when creating a note: 1 hour, 24 hours, or 3 days. After this period, the note is automatically deleted.
Can I retrieve a note after it's been read?
No, for security reasons, notes are permanently deleted after being read once. This ensures your sensitive information doesn't persist.
Is my data stored securely?
Yes, we use AES encryption to secure your notes. All data is stored locally in your browser and is never sent to any server. Notes are automatically deleted after being read or when they expire.
Can I delete a note before it expires?
Once a note is created, it will be automatically deleted either when it's read or when it expires. There's no need for manual deletion.
Does NoteShared work offline?
Yes, since all data is stored locally in your browser, you can create notes offline. However, to share the note with someone else, you'll need an internet connection.
How does the password protection feature work?
When you enable password protection for a note, the recipient will need to enter the correct password to view the content. This adds an extra layer of security in case the access link falls into the wrong hands.
Is NoteShared compliant with privacy regulations?
NoteShared is designed with privacy in mind. Since we don't store your data on our servers and notes are automatically deleted after being read or expired, we minimize data retention. However, for specific regulatory requirements like HIPAA or GDPR, please consult with your compliance officer.
Can I use NoteShared for business purposes?
Absolutely! NoteShared is perfect for business use cases where secure, temporary sharing of sensitive information is needed. Many professionals in IT, finance, healthcare, and legal fields use NoteShared for sharing credentials, confidential documents, and sensitive communications.
What happens if the recipient never opens the note?
If a note is never accessed, it will be automatically deleted when it reaches its expiration time (1 hour, 24 hours, or 3 days, depending on what you selected when creating the note).
Can I see if my note has been read?
Currently, NoteShared doesn't provide read receipts to maintain maximum privacy. However, since notes can only be read once, if you try to access a note and receive a message that it's no longer available, it means the note has either been read or has expired.
